Chef Rece Hogerheide brings over a decade of culinary experience to his role as Executive Chef at Detroit Foundation Hotel. A native Michigander, Chef Hogerheide weaves his passion for local, sustainable ingredients with exceptional cuisine and a warm guest experience to welcome locals and visitors to The Apparatus Room. Chef Hogerheide has had extensive experience working in hospitality, specializing in agriculture’s role in food business such as with farm-to-table restaurants. Prior to his work with Aparium, Chef Hogerheide held positions at local Michigan restaurants such as Gather and is also one of the Founding Chefs of Felony Provisions which is known for its fermentation; butchery; cheesemaking and charcuterie products and pop-up dining events throughout Michigan. Most recently, Chef Hogerheide served as the Executive Chef of Daxton Hotel, where under his direction the property’s restaurant Madam was named the Hour Detroit’s Restaurant of the Year in 2023. Over the past few years, Chef Hogerheide has sharpened his skills in niche areas such as butchery and fermentation, while forging partnerships with community focused organizations including Midtown Composting, Food Rescue US and Make Food Not Waste — a Detroit-based environmental nonprofit that seeks to eliminate food waste. At Detroit Foundation Hotel, Chef Hogerheide will bring his specialized knowledge to create immersive guest experiences while further enhancing The Apparatus Room’s commitment to sustainability and traceability and strengthening ties with local partners.
