Tyree Guyton
Through his art Tyree Guyton has drawn attention to the plight of Detroit’s forgotten neighborhoods and spurred discussion and is recognized as a pioneer of what is known today as Creative Placemaking. He continues to live and work in the city, but after nearly 30 years of focus on The Heidelberg Project, Guyton is entering a new chapter in his life. After spending one year under the Laurenz Haus Residency (Basel, Switzerland) in 2012, Guyton is now devoting more time to his studio practice, exhibitions, traveling and lecturing. Equally important is continuing his work on his dissertation project (a comprehensive compilation of manifestos, recordings, visual works and various research).
